Socktober
Socks are in style year-round. But October is extra special! Socktober is a time for reaching out to those in need starting from the feet up! One of the most requested items at homeless shelters is, you guessed it, socks! Who knew such a small thing could make a huge difference? And with winter and the holidays coming, it's especially important for us to do what we can to keep hearts and feet warm. We work closely with Lava Mae to help ensure that as sock professionals, we are doing our part to spread some much-needed kindness and kick off the holiday season in the way we know best, spreading the love of smiles with socks!

What can you do to make a difference?
Here are some fun ideas that can help kick-start the giving season! Before going around for trick or treating this year, get a group together to go door to door to ask for donations. It’s a great way to get to know your neighbors and see if they have donations available in lieu of candy.
Forget pumpkin lattes, trick or treaters and other fall mayhem. This October is all about socks! In fact, it’s been renamed Socktober! Why the name change? Well, every night in the U.S. 600,000 people live on the streets, most of them lacking simple things like socks to help them get through the night. Did you know that the number one needed clothing item for those in need is new socks? And yet socks are one of the least donated? Socktober hopes to put an end to that. Launched in 2011 by Brad Montague, Socktober has grown from a regional clothing drive into a worldwide phenomenon, with people from every state and all 7 continents now donating socks each year.
We work closely with Lava Mae to help ensure that as sock professionals we are helping bring smiles and warm feet to those in need. Understanding and empathy go great with warm feet! Helping those in need can start with "Hello" and eye contact a simple acknowledgment.
