It’s August, and There Are a Surprising Number of Sock-related Holidays to Celebrate

August: Love It, or Loathe It?

August is perhaps the most polarizing month of the entire year. If you love August, you really love it, and squeeze the most you can out of it with final pool days, beach trips, and summer vacations. But if you loathe August, you really loathe it. Rather than soaking up the remaining summer days in the sun, you’re already looking ahead to sweater weather. And we can’t say that we blame you; it’s insanely hot outside, and while we love our sandals, we’re ready to comfortably wear our favorite pairs of socks again. Nothing beats the boots + socks combo, in our opinion. If you don't have the socks yet, take a look at some of our current coupon codes

But for now, the Dog Days of Summer are still going strong. In addition to honoring the 40 days under the dawn rising of Sirius the Dog Star, August is also Family Fun Month and Admit You’re Happy Month. So, even if you’re in the “I can’t wait for August to be over so it can be September” camp, try to pause and find at least one thing you’re happy about this month. If anything, it can be that autumn is just around the corner.

The first week of August is National Simplify Your Life Week, and it’s a great time to declutter your sock drawer. You don’t have to go into full spring cleaning mode, but tackling your sock drawer at the end of a season is always a good idea. Toss the old pairs that have sprung one too many holes, set aside the pairs you can mend with a darning needle, and re-fold and re-organize the remainders. You haven’t forgotten how to fold socks using the KonMari Method, have you?

Speaking of fun sock-related holidays, August 6th is National Wiggle Your Toes Day, and we’ll be celebrating by showing off our favorite patterned socks. But if you’ve had enough of summer, embrace your ennui and celebrate Lazy Day on August 10th and Relaxation Day on August 15th. Yes, those are both 100% real holidays, and observing them is highly encouraged.

If you’re dreaming of picking apples, wearing scarves, and jumping into huge piles of leaves, don’t worry. Autumn will be here soon, and the Pumpkin Spice Latte will be back at Starbucks before you know it. We hope you’re ready, because our fall sock game is going to be seriously good.
