It’s Newt a Salamander

These socks have brought the spark back to my marriage. On an annual trip to Vegas my husband said look I’m wearing my new salamander socks. I said no, those are newt socks. Which led to a brief argument followed by giggling and latte by the Sigfried and Roy sculptures outside the Mirage casino. We learned from a quick search, “ A newt is a salamander in the subfamily Pleurodelinae. The terrestrial juvenile phase is called an eft. Unlike other members of the family Salamandridae, newts are semiaquatic, alternating between aquatic and terrestrial habitats. Not all aquatic salamanders are considered newts, however.” We were both right, and naturally these socks proved we are perfect for each other.
